Ayrton Senna Forever

24/04/2024 –  3/11/2024

On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Ayrton Senna, the Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile dedicates a large exhibition to the Brazilian driver to delve into two aspects of his life: the champion’s sports history and the private history of a man who has conquered the hearts of millions of fans around the world.

From early kart experiences to Formula 1 single-seaters, the AYRTON SENNA FOREVER exhibition collects the most significant cars driven by Senna throughout his career, from the first Formula Ford to the last Williams. The cars will be accompanied by documents, publications and memorabilia: among these, the most complete collection of racing suits and helmets of the driver and the widest selection of all publications published, in the world, on Ayrton Senna.

To accompany the story, an important visual apparatus will be articulated along the entire path: spectacular images (some previously unpublished), Super8 films, audio-visual installations, and a multi-projection on a large screen.

Among the many photographs on display, taken by the greatest photographers of the time, a wide selection of shots by Angelo Orsi, a great friend and official photographer of Senna.

As a corollary of the exhibition – the largest and most complete ever made – five moments of meeting and debate: pilots, journalists, designers, testers and friends, the loved ones and rivals of all time will help to draw a complete portrait of the unforgettable champion. Many testimonies from those who knew him and – in various ways – influenced his amazing career.

The Lotus Renault 97T2 John Player Special 1985, the Van Diemen FF 1981 and RF82 1982, and the Ralt RT3 F3 1983 will not be on display from August 19 to 27.

Podcast

AYRTON SENNA FOREVER is also the title of the new podcast created by CHORA MEDIA for Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile. Three episodes are proposed as an accompanying tool for an exciting journey through the exhibition of the same name.

Thirty years after the death of Ayrton Senna, thanks to a sound and immersive story, we will retrace the great driver’s career together, from his beginnings with karts in Brazil to his great successes in Formula One. We will follow him from circuit to circuit around the world, where he will clash with the great champions of the time, from Alain Prost to Nigel Mansell, with resounding victories and inevitable defeats. Thanks to the testimonies of Carlo Cavicchi, journalist and author of the book “Senna vero” and Angelo Orsi, photographer and great friend of Senna, and accompanied by the narrating voice of Emanuele Ruzza, we will get to know Ayrton’s personality and character up close, while the driver Riccardo Patrese will tell us, as the protagonist, about the world of Formula One in those years.
