At the end of the 19th century, it seemed that the future of automobiles could have been either steam-powered, electric, or internal combustion engines, though history still had not decided which of the three would get the upper hand. Lombard-born Enrico Pecori attached a steam-powered two-cylinder engine to a slim tricycle. The roller chain drive and set up are quite advanced for the time: unfortunately, boilers were abandoned forever only a few years later and the experiment did not have any future development.
