The 8 HP derives directly from the 6 HP –also known as populaire-, which had marked a breaking point for De Dion & Bouton: the traditional rear engine was in fact replaced by a single-cylinder engine placed in the front, with a modern cardan shaft transmission. The model exhibited here was given to Carlo Biscaretti in 1932 by the Gentlemen’s Garage Riccardi Caratti d’Harcourt, the historic workshop founded by Guido Riccardi Candiani –true “donor” of the vehicle- together with Mario Caratti and Alberto d’Harcourt d’Azeglio.
