“Dressed” by the prestigious coachbuilders from Turin, Locati and Torretta, the 5 HP was built in 1901 by the Ceirano brothers and features a single-cylinder Aster engine as well as a yet unseen constantly meshed four-speed gear. The bodywork was executed by the prestigious Turin-based Locati e Torretta workshop. In 1898, the name Ceirano already animated the automotive scene in Turin, since Giovanni Battista Ceirano, Emanuele di Bricherasio, Attilio Calligaris, Pietro Fenoglio, and Cesare Goria Gatti founded a first factory to build the small Welleyes vehicle. Together with his brothers Giovanni, Matteo and Ernesto, Giovanni Battista was to give life to many brands, such as Itala, Star, Junior, Spa, Scar, and Fratelli Ceirano itself. The present model was donated to the museum by Antonio Gallino from Genoa.
