A leading role in the film Sunset Boulevard from 1950 (Norma Desmond’s initials, the character interpreted by Gloria Swanson in the film, are still on the rear doors of the vehicle) is simply the touch of color in the life of this vehicle. Its life was in fact full of excitement, driving back and forth over the American continent after it had arrived in the Republic of El Salvador in 1931. It was a gift of King Vittorio Emanuele III to the newly elect President Arturo Arajo: Castagna created a refined and costly coupé de ville “dress”, on a just as luxurious chassis from the 8A, an evolution of the type 8 designed by Giustino Cattaneo.
