It is an evolution of the 246 F1 with which Mike Hawthorn dominated the 1958 World Championship, but it also has a lot of the future 256 F1, the last front-engined Grand Prix Ferrari. It was donated to the Museum by Ferrari in 1961 as a naked chassis, after the test period. The bodywork was instead produced according to the original specifications, and in collaboration with Ferrari, on the occasion of this model’s restyling in 2001.
