It is one of Vittorio Jano’s works of art at Alfa Romeo and among the most prestigious and advanced vehicles of the 1930s. Unbeatable at the races – its immense track record includes the Mille Miglia, four victories at the 24 hour Le Mans race, and the Targa Florio – it was however also a worldly star. “Dressed” as a Touring, Alfa Romeo acquired this Corto chassis by trading in a Lancia Aprilia and then donated it to the Museum. In fact, that turned out to be its salvation; because the previous owner had decided to install the powerful 8-cylinder light alloy engine on a pleasure craft!
