It is a modern and sophisticated vehicle, the first Lancia born in the postwar period: it has many technical subtleties, from the independent suspensions to a brand new V6 engine. And a sober and elegant line signed by Pinin Farina. It was donated by Gianfranco Moncalvi, who proposed it to the Museum already in 1977, when the coupé was however still considered “too young”. Three years later, the regulations that allowed only pre-1920s vehicles to be part of the Museum collection were changed, and the granturismo then seemed to be ready to be exhibited. Yet the damage the Museum suffered during the 1980 earthquake postponed everything to the spring of the following year.
