Microcars were very successful in postwar Europe. Except in Italy: just like the Isetta, which had to “emigrate” to Monaco to experience its breakthrough, the Vespa 400, which Piaggio developed during the great success of the scooter, was produced on the assembly lines of French company ACMA. Light, easy to handle and affordable, 28,000 vehicles of this model were sold. The one displayed here was donated in 1983 by Giovanni Agnelli, in memory of Enrico Piaggio.
