Its development was long and troublesome, but at the dawn of 1981 it seemed to be the car to challenge: fast, reliable, and with Mario Andretti and Bruno Giacomelli at the wheel. Unfortunately, regulations changed, and the 179 was left only with the crumbs. A pure wing car, it has a composite chassis and an innovative V12 engine, created in a few months to fully exploit the ground effect. However, its career ended the following year, when it was donated to the Museum.
