It is “Italy’s girlfriend”: modern, fast, streamlined, daughter of the great Alfa Romeo racing school and Franco Scaglione’s pencil, who, according to Bertone, perfected an idea born among the Portello coachbuilders. For the competition it was unreachable, and for the Milanese company this model represented its final transformation into a large automotive industry. With its light alloy “twin-shaft”, its mechanical setup, and unmistakable street performance, it was to become the progenitor of a new generation. It was donated to the Museum, together with a wooden front mask, by Nuccio Bertone himself.
