A masterpiece by Giuseppe Merosi, the RL was the first project of the Romeo era. Fast, elegant and sophisticated, it was extremely successful also beyond national boarders: this chassis was designed by Wilkinson in Long Island in 1926. It is a “spider bateau” in mahogany wood and appears to be “the only wooden bodied Alfa ever known to exist”. It was donated to the Museum in 1995 by Brian Brunkhorst, who had bought it in 1988 and yielded it only in exchange for an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 chassis (together with a Cisitalia).
