In the beginning of the 1960s, front wheel drive seemed to be the future of compact cars. Fiat was not yet sure about this big step, and decided to try out the “all-front” mechanics – just as the reactions of the public – with the Primula, which Autobianchi in Desio (a company in the Lingotto’s orbit) presented in 1964. The design of this car is modern and rational and it hides cutting-edge mechanics (transversal front engine and in-line gear) that were to have a long life, even on Turin-made products. In fact, also this vehicle is from Turin, donated by Carlo Tinarelli in 1987.
