Benz’s light Velo was the world’s first “mass-produced” car, albeit in very small numbers, and was subsequently equipped with pneumatic tyres. It retained the Victoria’s single-cylinder rear engine. The steering mechanism is provided with a rotating central leaf spring to damp the vibrations on the driving bar.
