A model of a sports car on a 1:1 scale designed entirely in wood. It is called PM1 and is a study for a single-seater supercar designed by Paolo Martin in 1992 on the EB110 frame: presented at the 65th International Turin Motor Show, for which it became the emblem, the PM1 was produced considering all the ergonomic needs, the regulations of the various countries, the feasibility and economy of construction. The single-seater passenger compartment is built from a capsule in which the steering wheel was replaced by two small-sized steering wheels positioned on the armrests, for a more ergonomic drive. For safety, the driver’s belt has four anchor points which incorporate an abdominal airbag. Observed in its technical aspects or appreciated simply as a motor car, the PM1 is, in any case, articulated in a traditional and simple manner to the extent that it awakens the intimate sense of taste and charm which has always, and for a long time, accompanied a convincing piece of work.
