General Virgilio Bordino had it built at the Military Arsenal in Turin by assembling a steam-powered engine underneath the frame of a horse-drawn landau and a big boiler in the back. 30 kg of coke per hour push the three-ton vehicle at a speed of 8 km/h and the word is that it really proved its worth on the streets of Turin.
