The Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile has developed an app-based multimedia interactive system that may be accessed on fixed devices available along the route, or on your own device. The app rounds off the captioning system – explanation of the Museum – and, above all provides a powerful, versatile analysis tool. It operates within the Museum and can monitor visitor preferences so as to evolve in the most suitable direction and track visitor requests in real time. The interface is attractive and exciting, the system is modern and the content, organised in increasing levels of analysis, has a cultural, didactic, informative and scientific potential that makes it unique on the Museum scene. THE SYSTEM
The interactive system developed by the Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile is a modern, versatile instrument that accompanies the visitor during his or her tour, completes the captioning and if required offers analysis of any particular subject matter according to a framework organised by levels that is perfectly integrated with the exhibition.
The first level coincides with the actual route of the exhibition and combines information with entertainment. It is based on compellingly communicative copy rounded off by an impactful iconography designed to attract the public’s attention. Switching to a higher level of analysis, the didactic, historic, scientific and cultural value increases.
In its turn the Museum is able to monitor points of greatest public interest and record the public’s wishes so as to assess strong and weak points of the tour and of the interactive information and analysis system.
The interface is based on a graphic design consistent with the internal graphics of the Museum. The result is that the informatics aspect becomes an extension of the physical objects on display on the tour.
The ability to interact with the exhibition at every point along the way by means of a simple, intuitive interface, and the chance to go deeper into a subject and learn about related topics are quite unique in the world of Museums.
ACCESSIBILITY
The system may be accessed in two ways:
– Using the interactive devices available on the tour within individual sections.
– Using your own personal device (tablet or smartphone, Android or iOS) and downloading the app from the respective store.
NAVIGATION MODES
The application can be used in two ways, both of them always accessible at any point of the navigation:
– Using a menu that reflects the organisation of the exhibition tour: floors, sections, cars.
– Using a tag (QR_CODE) applied in correspondence with section panels and car captions: capturing it on your device’s photocamera you are directed to the relevant fact sheet from which you can access all the analysis material.
