The 156 F1 is Ferrari’s response to the new regulations issued in 1961 (“F2” 1.5L engines with a minimum weight of 450 kg) but also – and more importantly – the 156 F1 is a modern and slim single-seater mid-engine car. It brought Phil Hill victory in the World Championship the year of its debut. The model here exhibited – donated by Enzo Ferrari already in 1964 – has the specifications of the 1963 version, which later led John Surtees to win the German and the Mediterranean Grand Prix.
