The 4 HP is considered as the first car ever to be produced by Fiat – Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino
It was derived from the 3.5 hp version, which was produced in three series: a first experimental Faccioli-Ceirano version with a belt transmission; a commercial Welleyes version, manufactured by Ceirano with the financial support of the founding members of Fiat, with a chain transmission and wheels with tangential spokes; and a final version with wooden spoke wheels and higher displacement, thus the name 4 HP.
