The Balilla is the Italian runabout voiturette by excellence, or at least it was in the mid-1930s. It has interesting technical characteristics, reduced management costs, and outstanding performances. It also became an icon of its time and anticipated the great race towards the “people’s” car by some years making generations of Italians familiar with the automobile. Fiat officially baptized it the 508 and this model was produced in 113,000 units, between 1932 and 1937: these cars peopled the streets for many years after.
