The wind tunnel at the Politecnico in Turin gave it a Cx that remained a record for thirty years, and Dante Giacosa created its futuristic drivetrain that combines the frame of the 8V with a gas turbine engine of about 300 HP. In the 1950s there were many attempts, on both sides of the Atlantic, to make this engine appropriate for road driving, but there were too many difficulties. What remains are the tests on the Lingotto tracks, those conducted on the runway of Turin’s Caselle airport, during which the car reached 250 km/h, and a sinuous and fascinating prototype.
