Like many “General Purpose” cars, it was left behind in Italy by the Allies after WWII (the famous brand name “Jeep” was derived from the acronym G.P.). The Azienda Rilievo Alienazione Residuati (ARAR) donated it to this Museum in 1948. Produced both by Willys Overland and Ford at the time, today it has become synonymous with the pure and hard off-road vehicle. It was born to satisfy any need on the battlefield and experienced a second youth during the years of the post-war reconstruction in Europe.
