This very special runabout with its wooden bodyshell covered in sheet steel and room for just the driver and one passeger in front of him was built between 1911 and 1914 by the small firm of Bourbeau and Devaux. It has a two-speed gearbox and bilateral chain drive, but no clutch nor reverse gear. To get out of mesh, you have to shift the rear axle forward with a lever so that the slackened chains could pass from one pulley to another and so change the gear ratio.
