A prototype of the Maserati Mexico was unveiled at the Turin Automobile Show in 1965 fitted out as a 2+2 sports saloon for a South American customer by Carrozzeria Vignale, Turin, while the final 4-seater model with a 4.7-litre engine was presented at the Paris Automobile Show the following year. In 1969, this was joined by a 4.2 litre model with the same layout. A total of 250 Mexicos were manufactured until the model went out of production in 1973.
