Iso was founded in Bresso by Renzo Rivolta in 1939. Its debut in the car industry happened in 1953, with the revolutionary Isetta, a small runabout with original shapes moved by a motorcycle engine of just 200 HP. The following model was launched many years later, in 1962, and was an elegant and luxurious coupé with a Bertone body, the Iso Rivolta GT 300. Other luxury models followed that first model, for example the Fidia, the Grifo, the Lele, all equipped with big Chevrolet engines. These cars were signed by great designers like Giorgetto Giugiaro, Giotto Bizzarrini, and Marcello Gandini. Unfortunately, the company, which had become the Iso Motors Company in 1973 thanks to the entry of an American partner, had to close down in 1975.
