Le Corbusier (pseudonym of Charles Edouard Jeanneret, 1887-1965) designed only one car in his lifetime, despite the fact that in his career as an architect and designer he always focused on the implications that the car was having for modern urban design. In 1928, he designed the “Volture Maximum”, anticipating concepts which would be applied in car manufacturing only fifty years later. Maximum, not Minimum, despite the very small size, because maximum were the interior comfort and liveability. These were concepts that fascinated our Giugiaro so much that in 1986 he finally decided to give a “body” to the project, for the first time since its conception.
