Launched by Renault on June 10th, 1908 and purchased by the Museum in 1938. But, above all, this car has played a leading role in European history. It was one of those one thousand taxi cabs that general Gallieni, captain of the Paris garrison, confiscated on September 6th, 1914 to transport two French regiments to the frontline in Marna. The same two regiments who were to save the French capital – and the country – from the German offensive headed by Field-Marshal Von Kluck. It is therefore one of the famous “Marna Taxi Cabs”. In fact, the AG model had been specifically declined in the “Fiacre” (carriage) version for the Parisian public service.
