Designed by Francis and Freelan Stanley, two brothers who continued to back the cause of steam propulsion for more than twenty years, this two-seater with its “duc” coachwork was made by the Locomobile Company of America. It was also quite a success in Europe, where some 400 were sold in 1900-01. It is powered by an upright, two-cylinder generator with a kerosene-fired, fast-steam boiler, and has unusual oxtail steering.
