A series of articles, very detailed and well written, was published in 1928 by the US Journal “The American Machinist”. Signed by J.A. Lucas, they give an account of the organization and the production methods in the Lancia Plants in Torino, when the revolutionary model Lambda was in production. At the time 2,500 employees were working, in a strongly hierarchical organization. The entire structure was firmly in the hands of Vincenzo Lancia, the founder. This text, particularly centred on the Lancia floating front-wheel suspension, is unique as to the quality of the analysis and the richness of the images, all taken within the plants. It is one of the few witnesses from inside of how it worked an advanced engineering industry of the Twenties and Thirties.
