Ferrari 156 F1

1963

Developed by Ferrari’s racing department to meet the new Formula 1 regulations introduced in 1961, this single-seater marked the debut of a young Mauro Forghieri—destined to become one of the engineers of the Prancing Horse.

On its debut, the car won the Constructors’ Championship and the Drivers’ title with the American Phil Hill. The example on display also achieved two prestigious victories in 1963, when John Surtees triumphed at the German and Mediterranean Grands Prix.
