Founded in 1882 by Count Jules-Albert De Dion and Georges Bouton, De Dion-Bouton became one of the most influential names in motoring history and the world’s largest carmaker in the early 1900s. Among its most celebrated vehicles were the tricycles, built in thousands of units. The model on display features a rear-mounted, air-cooled single-cylinder engine. One of these very tricycles ignited Carlo Biscaretti’s passion for the automobile: in 1899 he took part in the Verona-Brescia-Verona race with a De Dion-Bouton.
