1954

Its first victory coincided with its debut in the 1954 French Grand Prix at Reims, with Juan Manuel Fangio and Karl Kling coming in first and second. At the wheel of the W196 R Fangio won the world titles in 1954 and 1955. Fifteen units were produced, one of which was donated to the Museum in 1957 with a letter from Nallinger, Chefingenieur of Daimler-Benz, followed by a second one from Alfred Neubauer himself.
