First project carried out under the responsibility of the technical director – engineer Giovanni Enrico – it was also the first Fiat to feature an engine with two vertical cylinders on the front of the car, housed in a sort of bonnet, mid-mounted gearbox and rear-wheel drive. The honeycomb radiator would replace the serpentine radiator later. Production lasted only two years, but the model made history when eight of these 8 HP cars participated in the first edition of the legendary Giro d’Italia in 1901, covering a distance of 1640 kilometres.
