1907 is remembered as a glorious year for Italian motor racing. Alongside Itala’s triumph in the Peking to Paris race, Fiat dominated the major competitions of the period — the Targa Florio, the Emperor’s Cup and the French Grand Prix — fielding three cars fitted with vertical four-cylinder engines, driven by Felice Nazzaro. The most powerful of these was the 130 HP: a true marvel with a displacement of over 16 litres, designed by Giovanni Enrico together with Guido Fornaca and Carlo Cavalli, capable of reaching speeds of nearly 200 km/h.
