FOD 18 HP

1926

FOD stood for Fonderie Officine De Benedetti, founded in Turin in 1915 by Francesco De Benedetti. FOD’s construction technique followed an innovative and original path. Their vehicle was a kind of cyclecar, characterized by the extensive use of light alloys in all its mechanical parts. It had simple, basic suspension, but a refined engine: a tiny 565 cc 4-cylinder with an overhead camshaft, lightened connecting rods and, in some cases, roller bearings. The valve rocker arms were cast in light alloy, as were the clutch assembly, the gear chains with their forks and the wheel hubs.
