Lancia D24

1953

The Lancia D24, the final stage in the development of Progetto Sport according to Jano’s programme, made its debut at the 1,000 km race on the Nürburgring at the end of August 1953. It was a splendid car, beautifully bodied by Pininfarina, with an engine completely redesigned by Ettore Zaccone Mina, based on the experience gained during a season with the D20: 6-cylinder 60° V-shaped engine, 4 overhead camshafts, two in each bank of cylinders and dual ignition, displacement 3300 cc. The bodywork was elegant and functional, some 50 kg lighter than the D23
